Nonprofit Asian Task Force Against Domestic Violence (ATASK) empowers survivors of domestic violence and other forms of abuse and exploitation in Asian communities to rebuild their lives, while advocating for lasting social change. Since 1992, ATASK has helped survivors across Massachusetts overcome language, cultural, and systemic barriers to access safety, justice, and opportunity.
What They Do
ATASK offers comprehensive services to survivors who often face significant barriers to accessing help, supporting them and their families as they work toward safety, healing, stability, and independence. The only pan-Asian domestic violence organization serving the entire state, ATASK provides culturally and linguistically responsive services in 26 Asian languages.
In addition to operating a multilingual emergency shelter and a 24-hour hotline, the nonprofit provides a range of services including case management, advocacy, legal services, economic empowerment programs, community engagement and outreach programs. ATASK's Asian Shelter and Advocacy Program (ASAP), the first of its kind in Massachusetts, offers not only emergency housing, but also provides survivors with individualized support, addressing needs for healthcare, childcare, education, employment, housing, immigration matters, and other critical issues.
Beyond direct services, ATASK also conducts legislative and systems advocacy to advance language access, immigrant justice, and survivor-centered public policy.

Their Impact
Last year, ATASK supported more than 1,000 survivors and family members across all 14 Massachusetts counties. Nearly half of those served were children impacted by domestic violence. The vast majority of survivors served by ATASK are immigrants, many facing barriers such as limited English proficiency, economic insecurity, and isolation from traditional support systems.
As ATASK approaches its 35th year of service, it remains committed to ensuring that all survivors, regardless of language, immigration status, or cultural background, have access to safety, dignity, and the opportunity to thrive.
