Getting On the Balcony

Summer is over and everyone's back in the office, both in-person and/or virtually. Do issues look different or the same? One of the hallmarks of NPN's Leadership Acceleration Program (LAP) is adopting adaptive leadership tools, such as "getting on the balcony" as described in Leadership on the Line by Harvard Kennedy School's Ron Heifetz and Marty Linsky. Here we share Executive Director of Northwest Children's Foundation Victoria Peattie Helm's experience with Getting Out on the Balcony and how seeing the bigger picture enabled her to ask difficult questions and uncover a new way forward.
