Program Overview

Being a nonprofit Executive Director is a powerful calling – and a complex challenge. You lead programs, raise funds, manage staff, answer to a board, and carry your mission forward. But leadership at the top can feel isolating.

LAP is a nine-month accelerator designed exclusively for Executive Directors, combining expert coaching with a trusted peer group and a powerful structure to help you tackle your biggest leadership challenge – and come out stronger.

Go Beyond the Familiar

Nonprofit Net launched the Leadership Acceleration Program to provide executive directors with exposure to perspectives, tools and ideas that go beyond the familiar to help them achieve their strategic objectives. In addition, the program provides a welcome opportunity for nonprofit executives to establish a unique peer network.   â€‹â€‹â€‹

A Unique Opportunity

The Leadership Acceleration Program provides EDs with a valuable opportunity to develop leadership skills, advance their organization's goals, and build a network of support.  Some of the unique aspects of the program include:

  • A Significant Project  Each participant proposes a significant organizational project or opportunity that they wish to pursue over the course of the nine-month program. The project or opportunity must meet specific criteria.

  • Peer Group Meetings  Five meetings, including up to three in-person, place over the course of the program. These meetings offer participants a forum to provide feedback, suggestions and encouragement to each other.

  • Executive Coaching  Through bi-weekly calls, an Executive Coach supports each participant during the nine months of the program. Additionally, “topical” conference calls, optional discussions of specific topics that participants are interested in and that relate directly or indirectly to their Performance Challenge, are scheduled.

  • Tools and Concepts  The program includes an introduction to tools and concepts that support leadership development and enhance the likelihood of success of their effort.

  • Assignments  Periodic, simple assignments promote reflection, track progress, and keep program peers and coaches informed.

Program Cost

There is no cost for this program.
